Lincoln,
Michigan, Village with a Vision.
"A road bee was held in 1912. From Bay City to the Straits,
eight thousand men with teams, tools, brains and muscle labored and
built 263 miles of good roads in a single day. They were put
in condition for all kinds of traffic. The road came up
through Mikado, through Lincoln to Roe Corners and through Spruce
toward Alpena." Just another example of the rich
history of these fine small town in Alcona county Michigan.
Lumber was the key industry in this region as it was for many towns
in
northern Michigan. Track was laid, that is a the old depot at
right, now a museum, and the foundations of the settlement were
laid. Lincoln was originally called West Harrisville.
The village became a trading center and eventually became a major
gateway for sportsmen and tourists interested in hunting and
fishing. Today, Lincoln is still thriving while
retaining its' small town charm and character and even has its' own
energy plant.
Lincoln holds several Events each year and
offers a full range of services for new residents and businesses.
