The Kal-Haven Trail is a linear State Park and goes from South Haven
to just northwest of Kalamazoo. It is built on the abandoned
Kalamazoo & South Haven Railroad.
The
Kal-Haven trail, the second rail trail in Michigan, runs over 34
miles through woodlands, over rivers and streams, through rolling
farm land and generally takes you through every kind of Michigan
terrain. This is a trail that is truly one for all ages.
It is easy going and you can hike, bike or ski however, there is
only one small section that is available for horse riding on the
adjacent trail between Bloomingdale and Kibbie. Snowmobiling
is allowed when there are 3" or more of snow and snowshoeing is also
allowed. The trail is ten feet wide and has a
surface of crushed slag and limestone. It is mostly flat so
people of all capabilities can enjoy the scenery year round.

Trail passes are required for use of the trail and our
friends at
Castle in the Country B & B have
more info.
