Elsie is Located in the extreme Northeast corner of Clinton County. It is has a mix of agriculture and industry. But it is most famous for it’s dairy production. Elsie is Michigan’s official dairy capital, hosting one of the largest Holstein farms in the world. Elsie has about 1000 citizens in the village limits but the surrounding community makes up a larger number and is vital to Elsie.

Without doubt the oldest firm in Elsie operating almost continuously under the same family control is the Wooley Hardware. It was started in 1880 by J. B. Wooley and L. B. Downey.
